Longbeach
Nanaimo waterfront
Fisgard Lighthouse
Built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was not yet part of Canada, Fisgard's red brick house and white tower has stood faithfully at the entrance to Esquimalt harbour. Once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.
Inside the building are two floors of exhibits, dealing with shipwrecks, storms, far- flung lights, and the everyday working equipment of the light keeper a century ago. Right next to the tower stirs on the second floor, a specially-made video evokes the loneliness and isolation that was the lot of the l9th century keeper.
I just loved it here..being inside you seemed to lose track of time....and it was almost like you were taken back in time and were waiting for your ship to come in....The sense of isolation is definately there, you can just feel it, hard to imagine waiting and waiting ...must have been a very lonely life..
Fort Rodd Hill

Goats On The Roof
New Castle Island
WOW....we camped here, walked around the Island, stayed up and set out food to catch a glimpse of racoons, I was so excited when i saw them, i almost peed myself, what a fantastic night.....Steeped EH mate!!
This is a very special place and holds a very special place in my heart, has done even before i saw it.........its perfect!!.Canada Day."Oh Canada Oh Canada....
Poor harry couldnt sleep.....racoons kept him awake all night making very weird noises...lol
Fan Tan Alley....Victoria BC
Fan Tan Alley is a curious little street. At its narrowest, it's only 0.9 m (3 ft) wide and you can still see signs of the gambling dens that once existed there. Look for an old peephole in the wall to your right as you walk toward Fisgard Street; it was used to screen visitors in the days when the illegal games of mah jong, fan-tan and dominoes were in play day and night and the air inside was heavy with the smoke of opium pipes. The architecture along this 73-m (240-ft) alley is typical of Edwardian commercial buildings. There are eight contiguous brick buildings in all.
Home of the famous Mel Gibsons bird on a wire motorcycle chase......cool....awesome walk, took mal 40 mins being chased on a bike, took us 5...and i stopped to browse, really great hippy shops, Harrybear tried to tell me they were all closed, but the shop assistants made me feel welcome...very nice little atmosphere, and we found a great little chinese restaurant at the back...in china town...which was owned and run by about every other nationality except the chinese.....food was fantastic!!!!.its our little retreat...
Cowichan Lake
This day was really great fun, cept when Harrybear tried to push me in the lake and drown me, Lucky for me the German rellies of his were with me and saved the day....then I was almost washed away by a rotating sprinkler, which Harry drove way too close to...on my side of the car with an open window....today was the day I bought my A n W Bear...and man do i miss the taste of that root beer
snooziebear returns
If you want to follow my first trip.....................................http://susiestrip.blogspot.com Well the time for the return of snooziebear came......and it was with great excitement that i returned once again to Vancouver Island, and to Harrybear, The last time I saw him seemed so long ago but the memories live in my heart like it were only yesterday. The place held just as much beauty for me now as it did the very first time i saw it, but in all honesty.........i wouldnt have cared if I were in Timbucktoo.....as long as we were together...What can I say...we lived...we laughed...we loved.and for a very short time the whole world seemed perfect once more....time flys by all too fast, and all too soon it was time to say "see you soon"......cry.....and take away all the beautiful moments with me and hope that they kept me going until the next time. A song comes to mind...."If tomorrow never comes, will she know how much I loved her".........yes I do.....but not as much as i love you.....lol....so......lots of pics, heaps of memories, and just a permanent reminder of how strong love can be..
