Longbeach

Back to Longbeach...was a little cool today, and pretty windy, we did a quick scout around on the beach and came across a little tipi (TEEPEE) type shelter which we snuggled in........ohlala......took some pics, and the day seemed to be going so well too, with harrybear writing romantic messages for me in the sand, i thought that was really special........then he hit me in the head with a gatorade bottle!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nanaimo waterfront

I spent a lot of time hanging around the waterfront on this visit, frequenting the delightful little shops that weave their way along the path, watching the indians at work on their latest piece of art, or just sitting on the grass sipping a coke purchased from my hippy dippy van, (yes its still there),It was here that I wrote all my postcards to send back home, here that i read books and daydreamed about a life that I wish would just stand still, then off to the lacrosse arena to watch and wait for Harrybear, the arena is gone now which is sad.........anyway its a busy place with people bustling about, children playing, old people wandering slowly along, young people, lovers.......and sometimes a live band which i enjoyed listening too. The spirit bear pictured has become very special to me, ihave a few in my bear collection now and also a dvd which i really enjoy........looking at this picture makes me remember the great little icecream store and trollers fish and chips.....mmmmmm

Lacrosse

We spent a lot of time with lacrosse....was good to watch harry doing something with so much passion, something he loves to do....a few good blues, lots of swearing, and seeing harrybear kicked out of the game was funny.....oops sorry harry

Fisgard Lighthouse

The first lighTthouse on Canada's west coast is still in operation! There hasn't been a keeper here since the light was automated in 1929, but every year many thousands of visitors step inside a real l9th century light, and capture some of the feeling of ships wrecked and lives saved.

Built by the British in 1860, when Vancouver Island was not yet part of Canada, Fisgard's red brick house and white tower has stood faithfully at the entrance to Esquimalt harbour. Once a beacon for the British Royal Navy's Pacific Squadron, today Fisgard still marks home base for the Royal Canadian Navy.

Inside the building are two floors of exhibits, dealing with shipwrecks, storms, far- flung lights, and the everyday working equipment of the light keeper a century ago. Right next to the tower stirs on the second floor, a specially-made video evokes the loneliness and isolation that was the lot of the l9th century keeper.
I just loved it here..being inside you seemed to lose track of time....and it was almost like you were taken back in time and were waiting for your ship to come in....The sense of isolation is definately there, you can just feel it, hard to imagine waiting and waiting ...must have been a very lonely life..

Fort Rodd Hill

is a coast artillery fort built in the late 1890s to defend Victoria and the Esquimalt Naval Base. The Fort includes three gun batteries, underground magazines, command posts, guardhouses, barracks and searchlight emplacements. There are numerous interpretive signs and audio-visual stations, as well as period furnished rooms and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Visitors can explore gun batteries and underground magazines built a century ago, as well as searchlight emplacements, command posts...and much more.

Beacon Hill Park Victoria

Wildlife abounds in Beacon Hill Park. More than a hundred bird species occur here, along with a number of mammals such as river otters, racoons and squirrels. Sunfish, painted turtles and crayfish make their homes in the waterways.Peacocks roam freely through the park and a petting zoo gives kids and the adults the chance to experience the animals up close and personal. But given my history with emus, i was very careful not to get too up close or personal....and kept it a very enjoyable day.

Goats On The Roof

these cute little guys hadnt changed a bit, frollicing around on the roof like it was the only place to be and looking down on us people rather curiously and probably wondering what the hell we were all staring at, inside had changed tho, lots of new additions since my last visit and renovations taking place, it still held that special quaint little charm for me though....i just hope with all the "improvements" that its not lost in the process, would be a real change to alter such a wonderful atmosphere

New Castle Island

WOW....we camped here, walked around the Island, stayed up and set out food to catch a glimpse of racoons, I was so excited when i saw them, i almost peed myself, what a fantastic night.....Steeped EH mate!!
This is a very special place and holds a very special place in my heart, has done even before i saw it.........its perfect!!.Canada Day."Oh Canada Oh Canada....
Poor harry couldnt sleep.....racoons kept him awake all night making very weird noises...lol

Fan Tan Alley....Victoria BC

Fan Tan Alley is a curious little street. At its narrowest, it's only 0.9 m (3 ft) wide and you can still see signs of the gambling dens that once existed there. Look for an old peephole in the wall to your right as you walk toward Fisgard Street; it was used to screen visitors in the days when the illegal games of mah jong, fan-tan and dominoes were in play day and night and the air inside was heavy with the smoke of opium pipes.
The architecture along this 73-m (240-ft) alley is typical of Edwardian commercial buildings. There are eight contiguous brick buildings in all.

Home of the famous Mel Gibsons bird on a wire motorcycle chase......cool....awesome walk, took mal 40 mins being chased on a bike, took us 5...and i stopped to browse, really great hippy shops, Harrybear tried to tell me they were all closed, but the shop assistants made me feel welcome...very nice little atmosphere, and we found a great little chinese restaurant at the back...in china town...which was owned and run by about every other nationality except the chinese.....food was fantastic!!!!.its our little retreat...

The One And Only Icecream Mountain

ASK HARRY!!!!.....it still makes me very emotional...get back to this one....

Cowichan Lake

This day was really great fun, cept when Harrybear tried to push me in the lake and drown me, Lucky for me the German rellies of his were with me and saved the day....then I was almost washed away by a rotating sprinkler, which Harry drove way too close to...on my side of the car with an open  window....today was the day I bought my A n W Bear...and man do i miss the taste of that root beer

snooziebear returns

If you want to follow my first trip.....................................http://susiestrip.blogspot.com Well the time for the return of snooziebear came......and it was with great excitement that i returned once again to Vancouver Island, and to Harrybear, The last time I saw him seemed so long ago but the memories live in my heart like it were only yesterday. The place held just as much beauty for me now as it did the very first time i saw it, but in all honesty.........i wouldnt have cared if I were in Timbucktoo.....as long as we were together...What can I say...we lived...we laughed...we loved.and for a very short time the whole world seemed perfect once more....time flys by all too fast, and all too soon it was time to say "see you soon"......cry.....and take away all the beautiful moments with me and hope that they kept me going until the next time. A song comes to mind...."If tomorrow never comes, will she know how much I loved her".........yes I do.....but not as much as i love you.....lol....so......lots of pics, heaps of memories, and just a permanent reminder of how strong love can be..
